Swissmedic is Switzerland’s national regulatory authority responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of therapeutic products including medicines, vaccines, medical devices, and advanced therapies. Established in 2002 and headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, Swissmedic operates as an independent public institution under the Federal Department of Home Affairs.

Swissmedic regulates the development, authorization, manufacturing, distribution, and monitoring of healthcare products throughout their lifecycle. The agency evaluates pharmaceutical products, biologics, innovative therapies, and medical devices before they are approved for use in Switzerland.
